COVID-19 Parking Response – Updates as of June

Temporary Free Parking Downtown now ended.

Meters

As of  June 15th 2020, paid parking and enforcement for meters will resume, ending the three month’s free parking period during the lockdown.

As a courtesy to those business who are doing curbside pick up, the DDA has bagged certain meters to allow 15 minutes of free parking for curbside pick up.  These metered spots are clearly marked for curbside pick up and are for customers only. Vehicles parking there for longer than 15 minutes will be ticketed.

Permits

To give the same three months of free parking to the people who live and work downtown as we gave the customers who use the meters, parking passes are free for the April/May/June quarter. To avoid a ticket, you still need to display your pass, as enforcement will be checking you have one.

If you are already a parking passholder, please hold on to your yellow passes.  To reduce the amount of handling involved in the issue of new physical passes, we will be extending the  normal six month expiry date (June 30th) on the current yellow passes until we can bring digital passes online – hopefully sometime before the end of the year.

If you require a new pass, please complete an application form and email it to sarah@downtownmarquette.org, since the office is closed to the public you will receive a temporary pass by email while your hard pass is mailed out to you.
