Celebrate the hockey spirit of Marquette at the eighth annual Hockey on Third parade, slated for september. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on North Third Street near the campus of NMU and will continue along Third Street, looping back to NMU on Arch and Front streets. The parade features local hockey teams of all ages, as well as fans and Third Street businesses. The celebration is held in conjunction with the Old Timers Hockey Tournament. Join in on the fun for this FAN-tastic celebration of hockey in downtown Marquette.
Line Up and Route
All entries must check-in with the Hockey on Third Parade Committee between 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. at the Pine Street gravel parking lot behind the Superior Dome. The parade will leave the lot promptly at 5:25 p.m., traveling right down Fair Avenue to Third Street, and continuing on Third Street to Arch Street where it will return to the starting lot via Front Street. Only vehicles registered to participate in the parade may enter the line-up area. Vehicles dropping off participants can only do so in the lots outside of the designated line-up area. It is recommended that participants park behind the Superior Dome and walk over.
The route is circular and returns to the Pine Street parking lot. Vehicles dropping off participants may be parked in the adjacent lots behind the Superior Dome during the parade. For safety reasons, it is recommended that marching units walk behind the corresponding float or decorated vehicle. All participants are encouraged to play music along the route.
Hockey teams, supporters, fan groups and local businesses and organizations are invited to participate in the Hockey on Third parade on Thursday, September 24, at no charge. To participate, submit the 2015 Hockey on Third Parade Registration form by Monday, September 21. You can register online or by completing a paper application and submitting it to the Marquette Downtown Development Authority (203 S. Front St., Suite 1-B).
